Tobin and the Treachery

• A Frontier military leader during the Council's Rebellion, Tobin Thalion was a key figure in the South's military success.
• He and his cavalry consistently defeated larger North Anglia forces at battles near the River Cities on the Brown River and quickly devastated North Anglian attempts at attacking deeper into the frontier.
• He was opposed to the meeting with King John I to discuss Frontier independence. He believed it was a trap and that the Frontier leaders' idealism and belief in their cause had blinded them to the disdain with which the North Anglian nobles held them. The meeting resulted in the Treachery on the Brown.
• The assassinations occured simultaneously while the leaders were seated beneath the large central tent. Tobin had refused to sit with the 'Peace Council' and he and his men remained armed so that the attempt on his life was dealt with swiftly.
• Tobin had no chance to prevent the other deaths and he was quickly surrounded. He and a small group of his men cut their way out and fled south across the Brown by boat under a hail of arrows and destructive spells. They were forced to swim under water, stripping weapons and armor as they tried to cross. Several of his men never made the far shore and disappeared into the murky water.
• King John declared Tobin and his men outlaws and traitors who should be killed on sight by any loyal subjects of the crown.
• As word of the Treachery spread Frontier folk helped Tobin and his men resupply and evade capture. The began a guerilla campaign against the Royal Crown Guards/Redlegs that King John sent into the south to finish his destruction of Frontier resistance.
• For months Tobin and his men led resistance. It was ultimately futile, as North Anglian authority was restablished despite their efforts.
• It is believed that Tobin and his remaining close friends, including miner Erkin Ironheart eventually travelled into The Borderlands and the far north.
• Our Heroes hear romors in 2437 that Tobin is living somewhere in the far south on the edge of the Southern Swamps.
