November Session - Tanner

In Yule of 2433, Tanner wrapped up training in lance and horsemandship. His longstanding project, a war machine he had been designing, finally came to fruition. the Copperhead, as it was known, fired for full effect and with no problems. Tanner found a new alcohol called Miner Water. He was instantly smitten.

Tanner and Faolan began recruiting troops for the relief of Sunshine. King John put them in contact with Rob Ryer, an archer in the Frontier Militia. Rob sent two of his men, Klug and Koller. Klug and Koller agreed to join them. Faolan and Tanner then hired mule teams and bought supplies for the operation. Before leaving, tanner showed them how to operate the Copperhead.

The group was joined by Ahnah, and they made their way to Helena without incident. One day out of Sunshine, they were ambushed by Red Legs. It turned out that Koller was a traitor. Taken by surprise, The Couriers were nearly cut down, but made it through thanks to some timely magic from Annah. Koller was hacked in half, but when you pepper Faolan with arrows, that tends to happen. The group picked up several warhorses and suits of armor and swords. Klug's deadly archery skills also helped saved the day. The mule team driver were killed in the combat.

At Sunshine, Faolan and Tanner quickly organized the troops for action. The Copperhead was set up at far distance, its bolts swabbed in pitch, and Fort Necessity was set alight. Faolan undertook skirmish actions near the walls. The next day the fort fell, with the commanding officer being pinned to the ground by a Copperhead bolt.

The Copperhead was left in Sunshine. It was too conspicuous to bring back. Tanner tried to get some money for it, but Annah and Faolan told him to forget about it. The group made its way to Helena, where several war horses were sold at a good price (thus easing Tanner's conscience. He had paid the bill for the operation).

The group celebrated Yule Tide at the Golden Lion Brothel. In a surprising bit of generosity, Tanner bought Annah the service of two whores.

The next day, Tanner had his fortune read by teller named Xara. What was told:

1. First card - drinking - Tanner thought, ' Yep. Power drinkers of Brown's Ferry'.

2. Second card - Others thought him unusual ' True'

3. Third card - Tanner would meet a powerful magician - 'Umm, I don't like this'

4. Fourth Card - Friends will have an incident with drinking 'shouldn't that be me?'

5. Fifth Card - War in the future. 'I've been preparing for it

6. Sixth Card - Military leader - 'I might become that'.

The group made it way back to Brown's Ferry and ran into Lady Evil. Surprisingly, she didn't attack, but spoke to Faolan. Annah took Tanner to the side, and told him somethings about Queen Bexar. Specifically, Queen Bexar, might ask him for favors in interceding in things with Samson. Tanner dismissed such ideas as rubbish.

When they got back to Brown's Ferry, Faolan and tanner went to see King John about where to train their warhorses. Big Cove was suggested, and they planned to leave the next day. They went to Miss Macon, who gave Tanner the same lecture as Annah. Tanner resigned himself to the possibility.

Tanner and Faolan then showed their horses to Samson, who was mightily impressed. Later, they ate dinner with the Bexari. Queen Bexar cornered Tanner and made a request of him to break up a proposed arranged marriage for her. Though it meant facing Faolan and Samson, he reluctantly agreed to so.

On the way to Big Cove, Tanner spoke with Faolan about Queen Bexar. While Faolan disagreed with Tanner, he agreed not to get in the way and to try to keep Samson from killing him. At Big Cove, Tanner met a rancher named Tyson. Tanner and Faolan began training. Soon they were joined by Samson. Training went well. At the end of it, Tanner spoke with Samson. The confrontation was tense, and most thought there would be violence. In the end, Samson relented.

Tanner reported back to Miss Macon and Annah. They seemed pleased with the events. Queen Bexar was too. Tanner felt that some level of manipulation had gone on, but there was nothing he could do about it.
