Redlegs
- The derisive nickname for the Royal Crown Guard (using it in the presence of an 'RCG', as they call themselves, will likely start a fight, or worse.
- This military force was formed by King John I as a personal army, whose only loyalty is to the Anglian Crown. This violates the Anglian feudal concept of the King relying on his nobles for military support, and threatens the nobles security.
- The unit has ancient origins, but had been disbanded for decades. It was re-formed as part of the late King's campaign to centralize Anglian power in his hands.
- They are called Redlegs by their enemies because of the red leggings that are part of their uniform. (Chainmail, black cloak, red leggings, bastard sword, warhorse).
- Redlegs are typically well-equipped, with the non-mages wearing chainmail. The Sons of Bexar have encountered many who were outfitted with high-quality weapons (particularly bastard swords). Most are well-trained, though some, particularly those doing occupation duty, let their discipline slide. Freebooting is not uncommon.
- The Redlegs are tolerated in the North, but they are hated south of the Brown River, in the Frontier. They were unsuccessful in directly fighting the Frontier Army during the Frontier Council's Rebellion, but took part in the Treachery on the Brown that effectively ended the Rebellion.
- They were used as occupation troops by the King in the River Cities and throughout the southern Frontier. They claimed to be instituting 'Crown Law', which essentially meant that they terrorized and pillaged southern villages in the months and years following the Rebellion.
- There were rumors that prior to King John's death that the Redlegs' commander was having an affair with Queen Anne. Alternately, there was some question of their loyalty to Young King Grey after his death as well.
- In the months since the death of King John, Queen Anne tried to rule as Regent, but appears to have been forced to give up power to Lord Evans, who now has effective control of the Redlegs.
- Since then Lord Evans has recalled The RCG to Anglia City, but many have 'gone rogue' and become bandits along the roads of both the Frontier and North Anglia.

Mike, should I put the material together for "Frontier Army" together with [Frontier Militia]?

Or should we keep them separate?

I'd say that the Frontier Militia refers to the loosely-aligned post-war groups that you have become involved with. The Frontier Army refers to the actual 'Greenbacks' - the Army that actually fought the Frontier Council's Rebellion (including the legendary Tobin Thalion), whose leadership and organization was gutted by the Treachery on the Brown.
