King Grey I

Also known as "Young King Grey", and "The Boy King".

Born February 15, 2428

How Our Heroes met him: They rescued Grey and his mother Queen Anne from the hands of Lord Evans' men, who held them in Lord Green's manor in August of 2433. King Grey is very small for his age, or so it seemed to Faolan.

  • Ascends to the Throne
  • King Grey, the first of his name, became Anglia's King upon the death of his father, King John, the first of his name.
  • Grey is the son of King John, of the Davies Dynasty, and Queen Anne from the Wayne Family. (Very few people, including Our Heroes, know that Anne is in fact the daughter of the late Frontier maven Miss Macon). Though Grey was born prior to their marriage, the King legitimized his son and declared him the legal heir in 2430.
  • King Grey was three years old when he ascended to the throne in 2431 after John's suspicious death.
  • Queen Anne and the powerful Lord Evans were made co-regent by King John's will & testament. They did not like each other - Evans called Anne a 'Wayne Whore' and Anne often denied Evans access to the King's Person.

  • The Evans Plot
  • Lord Evan's had his own tenuous claim to the throne and he sought to seize the throne in the summer of 2433.
  • The plan was multi-faceted.
  • King Grey and his mother were seized by Lord Evans men and held prisoner at Lord Green's manor.
  • Evans planned to marry his son to Green's undesirable 'lackwit' daughter, making young Samuel Evans Green's de facto heir.
  • Then Evan's men would assassinate the King and Queen Regent and blame Lord Green.
  • This would give his son control of Green's lands.
  • In addition Evans had discovered that Green was a clandestine supporter of the uprising in the east, led by Lord Gahanna.
  • The plan was thwarted by Our Heroes in August of 2433 - The Rescue of King Grey

  • Lord Gahanna Champions Grey
  • King Grey and Anne esaped to Gahanna through the efforts of Our Heroes. They were backed by Gahanna's uprising of the Eastern Lords against Lord Evans and the Western Lords.
  • Queen Anne issued a demand that Evans come north from Anglia City to Huber Heights and swear loyalty to Grey. Evans refused and a Civil War began in the Spring of 2434.
  • A brilliant and daring amphibious encirclement of Evan's forces by Lord Gahnna just north of Bridgeton led to a victory for Grey's supporters in July of 2434. Evans is taken into custody.

  • Reports of his Death
  • In August of 2434 reports began to circulate, and were taken for fact, that Young King Grey was dead - Death of the Little King - a side story.
  • Chaos spread in the north as supporters of different claimants jockeyed for position - there was even a calls by Western Lords for Evans to be released and declared King.
  • Lord Jackson moved north and took command of Anglia City in an attempt to restore some order in the capital.
  • In September, while on a Frontier diplomatic mission in the north, Our Heroes learned that Grey was still alive and worked with Councilor Ahnah at the behest of Lord Gahanna to bring Grey and Anne from Fort Wayne to Lebanon where his survival of yet another assassination plot was revealed.

  • Reclaims the Capital
  • During late fall and winter of 2434, Grey returns to Anglia City and Anne is named his sole regent.
  • During November Lord Evans is hanged for treason and attempted regicide.
  • Lord Gahanna, who has no stomach for police work and crowd control, returns to to the northeast and Martin's Landing.
  • With power consolidated Queen Anne sets about restoring order in Grey's name. One of her first acts is to restore the Royal Crown Guard, who answer only to her, and to establish a new King's Watch as personal bodyguards for the King, seeking the most loyal and able subjects.

  • Tries to Recruit a Step-father

*During the Fall of 2436, Grey told Faolan that he should marry his mother. He also said that he had considered ordering his mother to marry Faolan, but that "Mother doesn't take orders so well".
