The First Gael

Gael society is divided into Clans. Each Clan is led by an elder, and a central leader, called First Gael, is chosen by the Clan Elders whenever a new one is required (death, disgrace, failure, etc). The Clan Elders debate and agree upon a method of competition, in which they will all compete, with the winner becoming First Gael.

Currently, the First Gael is a Jock Ryan. Prior to Ryan, the first Gael was a Connaught who was killed by a poisoned arrow during a Kaluut attack on The Falls.
