Episode 17

Spans dates January 3, 2439 to February 14, 2439

  • 1-3-39 Arabella escorted Our Heroes out of Anglia City, but left them to serve King Grey I as adviser (and probably as intermediary between the Boy King and his mother. Several of the Candle Bearers see Faolan off...their beliefs disturb him (and amuse Tanner).
  • 1-7-39 The night is spent at the Bardstown Festival. Faolan manages to find a less chaste Candle Bearer, and he and Tnaner make new friends amongst former Redlegs in the Beer Hall. Joseph Blackeyes again drinks himself into a stupor.
  • 1-12-39 Pass through Jackson lands on the Tarstone Road. As Our Heroes are not exactly well-loved by Lord Jackson, they decided not to leave the Tarstone Road to call at the Jackson manse.
  • 1-16-39 Meet with refugees heading North, many who live on farms bordering the Dragon Garden. Faolan spoke with them, and assured them that they had nothing to fear, and that he would welcome them back as neighbors soon. He wrote out a letter of safe conduct for them.
  • 1-17-39 Meet with a Redleg patrol, oddly, led by a captain. They were very intense, but were not directly rude. Faolan assured the captain that he was not going to kill him and his men.
  • 1-18-39 Arrive at the Wallace side of the East Point Ferry, where we found a boisterous bar selling Miner Water. Cross over to East Point, briefed by Seth Adams and Big Turtle
  • Summoned Brit Green to meet with his superior officer. He arrived, and demonstrated the proper obedience. Faolan used the Band of Insight to read him, and found him to be incredibly ambitious and of obsessed with organizing and leading a military into war.
  • 1-19-39 Faolan, Tanner and Brit lead the Frontier Militia up to Brown's Ferry. After a tense entrance to the city (Faolan brought Brit, knowing that it would infuriate the Redlegs) they present the Frontier Council with King Grey's letter and proclamation, and convince the Frontier Council to declare independence. Our Heroes then presented the Old Crown Guard with the Anglian King's instructions to leave. This is to become known as Independence Day.
  • 1-20-39 Met with Priyanki, who acknowledged her Boudoan appearance, but denied any knowledge of things Boudoan. Also met with Miss Macon, who mentioned that there were, as far as she could tell, no Boudoan in the Half-Light. Miss Macon declined to store the Black Sword.
  • 1-21-39 Day spent renewing contacts and connections
  • 1-22-39 Big Party
  • 1-24-39 Our Heroes headed out on their trip to investigate the Boudoan. The group includes, Joseph Blackeyes, Sara, and Brit Green.
  • 2-1-39 Tanner saw Xara in Helena
  • 2-5-39 Cross the Tax Pass, gifted the occupants with quality rope and brass buttons.
  • 2-9-39 Our Heroes left the Tarstone Road to skirt the Mystic City.
  • 2-14-39 Ambushed by Boudoan, who appeared to be outlaws. There were two well-dressed men (at least one of whom was a mage), and six less well-dressed swordsmen. They had forced two Coastal folk, Mildred and Sack, to waylay travelers to set up the ambush. Faolan, not wanting to take any chances that she was a mage, shot Mildred with an arrow. Fortunately, her wound was not fatal. Tanner and Joseph managed to heal her. Faolan knocked one of the well-dressed fellows unconscious, and he was bound and 'secured'. The others were killed. According to Sack, Our Heroes were 60 miles from the nearest Boudoan settlement, and 220 miles from the East Coast.
